Skip the salon this holiday season, and do your holiday hair updos at home. They are really much simpler than you think. This curly and rather undone updo is so easy to do that you’ll wonder why you ever considered paying $40+ to have it done for you. All you need is a blow dryer, a set of curlers, an elastic band, several bobby pins, and a cute headband that works with your outfit.

My secret weapons for holiday party hair: the Infinity Pro by Conair 3Q Styling Tool and the Infiniti Pro by Conair Secret Curl

Start by blowing out your hair using a round brush. The Infiniti Pro by Conair 3Q Styling Tool makes my usual tedious blow out happen much, much faster, Not only does it cut my drying time in half, it’s super quiet to use. It’s gentle, too – the lower temperature combined with ionic technology enhances shine and minimizes damage to delicate hair. It has a locking true cold shot button, which is so helpful when you’re making curls (a shot of cold hair helps set the curl so it lasts longer).

Blow your hair completely dry while using a medium to large round brush. It’s not imperative that you create curls at this juncture – we’re going to do that next.

Let hair completely cool down before continuing to the next step.

Once hair is cool, roll it up in curlers. I’m using the new Infiniti Pro by Conair Secret Curl, which is a unique set of rollers. They are made completely of silicone, so you hair won’t lose any of it’s shine, and the curlers themselves heat up super fast (with a ready dot so you know for sure when they are ready). The carrying case of these is pretty cool – it’s vertical, versus horizontal, so it takes up a lot less space on your working surface. The cord wraps around the base, too, which is also super helpful, since I have a million cords lying about.

The Infiniti Pro by Conair Secret Curl rollers pop up, giving you a space to wind hair around – start at the very bottom and slowly wind hair around the curler, then pop it closed. For more volume, set the curlers on the very top of your head. I used about one inch sections of my hair, but you might be able to get away with bigger sections if your hair is thinner.

Bonus tip: you can make spiral curls by twirling your hair in the direction away from your face, then wrapping them around the curler. It’s a cool effect that is easy to do.

The curlers come in two sizes, and I used the smaller sizes along the side of my head and the bigger sizes on the top. Let them sit for about 15 minutes. Let them sit as long as you possibly can, really, as that will give you longer-lasting curls. But they should be cool enough to remove after about 15 minutes or so.

After you take your curlers out, don’t pull them apart or brush them through. You want the piecey look that comes with a curler set. Make sure they are completely cool before moving on.

Take your hair and pull it into a high ponytail and secure it with elastic. For any long curls, secure them with a bobby pin against your head. Secure only one curl with one pin – you want a head full of curls all going in different directions. Be sure to incorporate some height into your pins. I usually leave shorter curls alone, giving it a more natural look, but any curl that is longer than a couple of inches gets secured with a pin at the top of my head.

Add a cute headband (I added my rhinestone headband, which goes with just about every party dress), spray with hairspray, and you’re done!

Easy holiday hair: curl it up, secure with bobby pins, add a headband, and you're done!

You can purchase the Infiniti Pro 3Q Styling Tool and the Secret Curl at most major retailers, including drug chain stores and big box retailers. The 3Q Styling Tool runs about @139.99 and the Secret Tool averages $68.99.

For even more bling, add some thin hair tinsel to the hair by tying in at the root, or some temporary hair chalk in red or green. Gold would be gorgeous too. A fancy blinged out comb with crystals in the back to hold hair in place would also be very pretty. Use your imagination!
