Living Proof celebrity stylist Chris McMillan worked with Julianna Margulies for the 2014 Golden Globe Awards. He shares with us how he achieved her simple yet chic updo.
On the look they were going for, McMillan says:
“The look we decided on was a modern take on a classic updo. After seeing the dress, we wanted to make sure the hair completed the elegance of the whole look. We created an architectural style that was clean around the face and a little messy in the back.”
And he explains his technique:
“First, I applied Living Proof Prime Style Extender to her wet hair for a lasting style. Using a large round brush, I blew out the hair straight with a deep, side bang. I applied a small amount of Living Proof Amp throughout the hair to add texture. I then pulled the hair back into a low ponytail, and instead of twisting the hair into a bun I lifted the ponytail straight up and pinned it to the back of the head. I then folded the hair down and pinned it underneath the ponytail holder, creating the bun. I left the ends of the hair resting at the nape of her neck. Finally, I applied Living Proof Flex Shaping Hairspray to the hair for lasting and flexible hold.”
