Video of the week: Dr. Pepper inspired eye makeup

This week, the Makeup Geek is inspired by the can of my most-favorite soft drink EVER, Dr. Pepper.

MakeupbyTiffanyD has several videos that focus on quick tips to make big changes in your makeup application.

It’s no secret that I adore the vintage/retro makeup looks of yore. I can spend hours watching tips and tricks on how to apply it, and how they achieved the looks, since most of those techniques went out of vogue by the time I was old enough to wear makeup.

When I was in Dubai about ten years ago, I experienced a bit of culture shock. Not necessarily in a bad way, but it was so different to see how the women of that culture would veil themselves, and yet have the most amazing eye makeup I had ever seen.

I’ve been sporting this look quite a bit this summer because it’s so easy and it looks fantastic with the maxi dresses I’ve been wearing. The technique is actually quite simple, even more so if you are familiar with french braiding. Have you tried this look yet?

YouTube tutorial of the week: Edie Sedgwick

Hopefully you are familiar with Edie Sedgwick, Warhol’s muse for many of his short films. She was certainly a style icon in the 60s, and while her life was certainly tragic, she was unconventionally beautiful and has remained in the public’s consciousness ever since with many pop cultural references such as songs, movies, and even poems.

YouTube tutorial of the week: Dita Von Teese

This week, I’m sharing a tutorial on achieving a classic retro glamour look similar to what my personal style icon, Dita Von Teese wears.
