So much talk about the Academy Awards last night, and I still haven’t had a chance to watch the entire thing. However, I did see some of the red carpet arrivals, and everyone just looked absolutely amazing.

Amanda Seyfried had a gorgeous updo last night, and Sally Hershberger was kind enough to share with me how to do it. Here are her tips for achieving this look:

Shu Uemura Art of Hair Essence Absolue

Shu Uemura Art of Hair Essence Absolue

The hottest hair product to hit the shelves recently sold out in a matter of days, but I just got word that it is officially back in stock, and you can purchase it online at Shu Uemura’s online shop if you can’t find it locally.

A five ounce bottle will set you back about $65, but word is that it’s truly amazing. Used as a protectant during color treatments, a before shampoo oil treatment, and as a shine enhancer and damage-repair agent during a blowout, it certainly has a multitude of uses. And it’s not just your everyday people using it, either. Celebs such as Sheryl Crowe, Madonna, Mariah Carey, Kate Bosworth, Emily Blunt have all been spotted using it.

Have you tried the Essence Absolue? What did you think? Enquiring minds want to know!

new york fashion week

Sarajane Lynch of ION Studio was inspired by “attic dolls” – the ones that are left in the attic too long for the Bess presentation at Mercedes Benz Fashion Week. You can see the photos up on the mirror as she works on a model.

Bess Backstage

She used Davines products as well as a few creations she mixed up herself. Here is the finished look:

To get her dry, matte, and flat look, Lynch used the following:

Lynch started by coating hair with Davines Creative Moulding Foam. She then dried the hair and sprayed it with her essential oil/salt/water mixture. This dried the hair out while creating that just stepped out of the ocean look. The next step was backcombing the hair, then added pincurls around the face laying flat against the head. She then created a low, messy bun and sprayed hair with hair powder to remove any extra shine.
