Backstage at Carmen Marc Valvo with Romero Jenkins of MAC Cosmetics

I had the pleasure of talking with Romero, a senior makeup artist at MAC who was keying the Carmen Marc Valvo show this past Fashion Week. He graciously took his time to tell us what the look was for the retro-themed show, and how he managed to achieve it.

I was playing at Nordstrom the other day, and stopped to mess with MAC’s latest, Jeanius.

At Carolina Herrera’s Fall 2011 show, make-up artist Diane Kendal for MAC Cosmetics used basic make-up elements to create a classic, flawless face.

For Monique Lhullier’s luxurious and feminine collection, the hair and make-up look was doll meets punk. Make-up artist Val Garland for MAC created a deep purple smoky eye, intense brows and berry-colored lips. Odile Gilbert for Kérastase created a doll-like, haute-couture updo, with ribbon-like curls topped off with a black bow.

Easy but high impact eyes with MAC, Flirt!, and Too Faced

One of the reasons why I am always recommending palettes to people is that it makes it so much easier to throw together a perfect look in a short amount of time. I can become paralyzed by indecision when I am looking at a lineup of all my single eyeshadows, because really, who wants to think that early in the morning?
