If you haven’t heard about it already, COVERGIRL has created and launched a new collection inspired by Star Wars Episode VII: The Force Awakens. The theme of the collection is light and dark, referencing the Force.
COVERGIRL Global Creative Design Directior Pat McGrath, who seems to be everywhere lately, created the collection to enable women to celebrate their fandom, transform their look, and express layers of personality.
There are ten SuperSizer Mascaras that feature different quotes from the filk, six new Colorlicious Lipsticks in daring and unusual shades, and three Outlast Stay Brilliant Nail Glosses in limited edition Star Wars packaging.
The 10 COVERGIRL SuperSizer Mascaras are divided into 5 Light Side (waterproof) and 5 Dark Sides and include iconic Star Wars movie lines, unique to their corresponding side.
The SuperSizer is the only mascara with a Lash Styler, a wand/brush that allows direct contact between mascara and lashes. To use the Lash Styler, place the Lash Styler right at the lash line base using the flat side, immediately saturating the lashes with mascara and hopefully hitting that tight line. Then comb the volume through from root to tip by twirling or rotating as you go. This will allow the shorter bristles to deliver max mascara while the longer bristles on the brush comb it through.
It sounds like there might be a learning curve with this brush, but I feel like all the brushes these days require a bit of training.
Light Side Mascara is waterproof, so there are really only two formulas: waterproof and not waterproof. Everything else is a matter of the collectible packaging and product look. Which is pretty cool, if you ask me. And at $5.99 – $7.49, there isn’t much guilt in collecting them all.
COVERGIRL Colorlicious Lipsticks come in some new and interesting shades, three on the Light Side and three on the Dark Side. Light Side shades include Droid (gold), Lilac, and Nude. Dark Side lipsticks include Stormtrooper (dark purple), Red, and Silver. These are limited edition, so you know what that means: when they are gone, they are gone and you’ll end up buying them for a million dollars on eBay.
The lipsticks are nice and moisturizing, containing shea, avacado, and aloe butters; olive-derived squalane (an ingredient designed to replicate skin’s natural ingredient to condition itself); and white tea and vitamin E as antioxidants. Retail is set at $5.99 – $7.99.
Star Wars Nail Glosses are part of the Outlast line, which I love. The formula really stayed on my nails much longer than any other formula has, and the price is right. It’s a one step formula, with no need for a top coat, that has wear-resistant shine. The shades are Light, Nemesis, and Red Revenge.
You’ll be able to find this collection in most places that sell COVERGIRL, but I’d move quickly. Judging by the interest I’ve seen in this collection, it really is going to go fast.
