Eye makeup removers are a topic near and dear to my heart. Since I use it almost every single day, it’s something that is in heavy rotation in my beauty product world. Some are great, some are okay, and some are just terrible. It’s all about the ingredients.

It may sound completely illogical, but oil breaks down and removes oil better than just about any other kind of product. Oil cleansers are also amazing when it comes to removing water-resistant makeup, since obviously just water isn’t going to do the trick. So I make sure to use an oil-based eye makeup remover even though I’m prone to breakouts – I don’t break out on the area around my eye, I can always use more moisture there (stay away, wrinkles – I’m not ready for you yet), and using an oil based remover completely eliminates the tugging on the skin that can happen when you’re using a water-based formula. So my favorite eye makeup remover is always going to include oil.

So I feel like I’ve tried them all, and there is one I always keep going back to: Lancome’s Bi-Facil Double Action Eye Makeup Remover. First, it smells like roses. Second, it doesn’t leave behind a thick oily residue. Third, it includes a water phase that helps gently cleanse after the makeup is broken down and whisk it away.
