It’s that time again, where we break out the really fun palettes, the glitter eyeliners, and the false lashes. It’s holiday party time! Time for too much food, too many cocktails, and hopefully lots and lots of white elephant gifts, because those are the best.
I’m using the Make Up For Ever Artist Palette, which I have talked about before. It’s not a holiday palette per se, but it is a limited edition that you aren’t going to be able to get for too much longer. Plus, I really love it, and the shadows are so perfect for holiday festiveness. There is just enough shimmer to make the shadows really stand out, and the gold is to die for.
I was really excited about the purples in the palette, and decided to create a look around those. Here are the three shades I used:
I began with the lid color, which needed to be pressed on or packed on to really get the shimmer effect. Then I worked on the crease. It took quite some time to blend it out, because the effect at first was so dark and harsh. But after a few blending sessions, I finally got it. I went back and pressed on more of the lid color, then I touched up the brow with the pinkish color.
Next I used Sephora Collection’s Smart Liner in black. I thought that the shape of it might just be gimmicky, but I’m pleasantly surprised at how much easier it makes applying black liquid liner. Well worth a shot if your liquid liner skills could use some help.
Then I decided I needed some glitter, and remembered I had purchased a set of Ardell glitter lashes at the end of the season last year.
Overall, I was pretty happy with the look. You could do the same with a gold/copper look, since this palette has some great neutral yet shimmery shades. And as always, Make Up For Ever’s shadows are amazing. Pigmented and blends so easily.
