I think my New Year’s resolution this year should be to wear more lipstick. It’s one of those things that I have a lot of, and I obsessively buy, but never seem to remember to actually wear. I’m really not sure why – it’s in every makeup kit I have, but I seem to think that my makeup application is done without lipstick. Isn’t that weird? I think it’s weird.

Anyway, I did buy a few awesome lipsticks this year. I tend to gravitate toward fuchsia, but I’m currently experimenting with a dusty rose as well as some darker shades now that it’s winter. Not that it makes a difference when it comes to the best lipstick, but every now and again I run into a formula that seems to work better with certain shades.

My pick for the best lipstick of 2014 is Too Faced’s Melted Liquified Long Wear Lipstick in Melted Fuchsia. I love this stuff. It’s heavily pigmented, gorgeous colors, and has good wear. It bills itself as almost a stain, but I wouldn’t put it anywhere near the stain category – this is definitely a lipstick. It has a pretty shine, and wears down almost as a matte. Maybe more of a satin-type finish.

They have a few new shades available that weren’t around when I purchased mine, including what looks like a black called Villain. There are 18 shades total now, and everyone should be able to find something that works with their skin tone.

What was your favorite lipstick this year? My fellow beauty bloggers are weighing in on this too:
