It’s time for those end of year roundups, where all the bloggers talk about what was the best product they have come across this year. It’s a great chance for me to go back and see what everyone else is loving and I missed, which is inevitably so much. But I feel pretty confident about my pick for this year’s foundation.

I’m loving Kevyn Aucoin’s The Sensual Skin Fluid Foundation. I first came across it at The Makeup Show Dallas, and Older Girl Beauty and I were treated to a first hand experience at the show. It’s a liquid, not a cream, and it’s not thick, it’s actually rather thin. So you almost can’t believe that it would offer any foundation, considering it comes out of the bottle in a dropper.

It does, though. And I like my foundation with a bit of cover – my skin isn’t perfect and I need all the help I can get. I like to put a few drops on the back of my hand and apply it with a foundation brush, or better yet, my Make Up For Ever Blending Blush Brush – I don’t know why, but it’s a great stippling type brush.

It dries to an almost powder finish, but it doesn’t easily come off on clothes, and the lasting power is pretty impressive. It’s buildable, you can keep it light or build it up to a complete full coverage foundation, as long as you apply it in layers rather than try to get a full coverage all at once.

It also has anti-aging ingredients in it, which is super important for those of us over a certain age. Pigment Perfetto is a powerful marine based algae extract known to fight the production of Progerin, a protein known to accelerate aging by encouraging loss of firmness, elasticity and wrinkles. So double duty there.

It’s oil free, water free, paraben free – it’s essentially made of nothing. No, jk. I actually don’t know what the ingredients are, since I can’t find a listing online. But whatever it is, it must be something magical, like unicorn tears.

Retails for $65 at SpaceNK, Barneys, and Bergdorf Goodman.

Be sure and check out what everyone else is loving this year:
