One of the best ways to increase the brightness of your skin is to exfoliate. I’ve written about exfoliation before and how important it is. It works for every skin type, and helps with a myriad of other skin concerns, such as acne, dullness, large pores, clogged pores, and skin discoloration. It’s a fabulous anti-aging strategy, because it removes the surface layer of dead cells and encourages the new layer to repair elastin and collagen. Really, just about anyone can benefit from exfoliation.
I have so many different ways to exfoliate, it’s nuts. It really is kind of my thing – once I figured out that it really helped my acne in my 30s, I was all over it. 10 years down the road, I’m realizing just how important it is since I’m starting to see a few laugh lines around my eyes. But out of all the methods I have, these three are ones that I really can’t live without, they work so well.
Murad Age Reform Intensive Resurfacing Peel with Durian Cell Reform: When I tried this for the first time, I couldn’t stop touching my face for about a day. In less than 10 minutes, it had whisked off a ton of dead skin cells that I didn’t even notice before, smoothed my skin out, and made it glow. It has bamboo microbeads as well as a combination of glycolic and salicylic acids to encourage cell regrowth
Neutrogena Microdermabrasion System: I love a gadget. If it combines beauty and a battery operated object, chances are I’m going to want to get my hands on it. Even if it plugs in. Whatever, I’m not picky. But I’ve been disappointed by the few microdermabrasion systems, so this one was a nice surprise. It’s super simple, as it consists of only two parts: the applicator and the puff. The puff is pre-loaded with ultra fine crystals and mild purifiers. Pull one out, lay the light side of the puff on the applicator and press lightly. It sticks like velcro. The applicator then sends out micro-vibrations.
ybf Prep Microdermabrasion: this is a creamy lotion type of microdermabrasion product. It combines a micro-crystal polish with a brightening peptide called Tego Pep 4-even, with vitamins and antioxidants. The combination is a scrub that lightly exfoliates while giving you a dose of hydration. Super simple to use – massage lightly on the face and rinse.
Do you have a favorite peel, gadget, or product for exfoliating? Because I’d like to hear about it. Then probably go buy it. And definitely test it. Then write about it, of course. Eventually. Because that’s how I roll.
