I have a theory that people either want to use wipes to remove makeup, or they like liquid eye makeup remover on a cotton ball. It’s easy to see why either would be possible – wipes are SO convenient, but may not do the precision work of a cotton ball or pad. I personally can go either way, but the more intricate the makeup (especially the eye), the more likely I am to use a cotton pad.

So I was excited to try out Olay’s new Fresh Effects {S’Wipe Out!}. It bills itself as a refreshing makeup removal cloth. It has a distinctive scent, but it’s not overwhelming, but it can linger. It does a great job removing facial makeup and actually does feel rather refreshing, but it pulls a bit on my eyes when I’m working on getting that off.

Not a big deal for most people, but I’m starting to get a little freaky about my under-eye area. Any bit of tugging or pulling in that part of my face makes me anxious. I’ve already started seeing some crow’s feet forming, so the last thing I need is further unpleasantness in my eye area.

However, my daughter, who is just getting into makeup and has perfectly smooth skin loves them. And I think they are geared towards that age set, what with the name and what they do. So, if you’re not of a certain age (lucky you!), give them a whirl. If you’re like me and neurotic about wrinkles and tugging, you might want to give this one a pass.

Meanwhile, they occupy a prominent place on my daughter’s vanity.
