Have you caught the DIY craze yet? I blame Pinterest. But I’ve always been rather crafty in my own way, so every Wednesday we’re going to try out a new DIY. They might be beauty related, but not always. There is so much stuff to make out there!
This week, we’re doing something that I have totally done before – a homemade face mask. Now, I’m a fan of every fancy face mask out there, I’m sure, but there is something really satisfying about creating your own. This is one of my favorites for my post-beach days, when my face might be slightly sun-exposed. I have mostly oily skin, but this mask will really work for all skin types, and it’s super easy to make. The oatmeal provides a calming effect on the skin, the egg white is protein and toning properties, the honey is anti-bacterial, and the yogurt is lactic acid, a gentle exfoliator, and plus yogurt is just good for you. For after-sun use, make sure your yogurt is nice and cold, and be sure to work quickly.
Oatmeal and Honey Face Mask
2 tablespoons oatmeal, ground in blender or food processor (I make a bit extra, in case I want to thicken my mask up)
1 teaspoon honey
2 teaspoons yogurt (I like mine cold)
one egg white
Stir them up together and add yogurt to thin your mask, oatmeal to thicken it. Apply to face, leave on for at least 10 minutes, 20 is better. Rinse.
