I love a well done smoky eye. While you can do a smoked-out eye in just about any color, blacks and grays will always have my vote, simply because it can be so dramatic. And forget the idea that you need expensive cosmetics to make a great smoky eye – I did mine with Rimmel and it was super easy.

The Glam’Eyes palette is actually a quad, with the lightest/highlight color front and center on the UK flag. The darkest/liner color forms the “X” in the back. The two remaining colors form triangles on either side of the X. The product itself is super cute, but it’s a little problematic getting to those two medium shades – I had to find a super small makeup brush to make that work.

The technique I used was fairly straightforward: I used the lightest shade first, covering from lash line to brow bone. Next, I used the second lightest gray (of the small triangle) in the inner corner, the outer corner, and the crease, leaving the middle of the eye light. I then took the darkest color, and with a smudge brush, lined the upper and lower lash lines. I then went back and created a somewhat large “V” on the outer corner, using the medium shade, to increase the drama a bit. The wear was really, really good. I didn’t need any touch-ups through the evening, and when I got home, you simply couldn’t see any wear to it at all. The colors are nice and vibrant, and seemed to have excellent pigmentation. I didn’t need several layers of the same color to make it stand out.

Rimmel’s Glam’Eyes Quad is available at Ulta, as well as other mass merchandisers for about $6.45.
