Can you imagine trying to pick your favorite lippie of the season? I had a really hard time with this for several reasons: one, I don’t wear lipstick very often, especially in the summer; and two, I have so many lipsticks that it probably would have taken me all summer to go through them and figure out which one I liked the best.
But in the interest of keeping my sanity, I decided to go through just those that I have received or purchased this year. Shockingly (or perhaps not so to those that know me), it was a pretty high number, and I ended up taking at least two days to go through them and choose my favorite. What really was interesting was that my favorite was one that I hadn’t even tried, or even planned on trying! It happened to be a sample that I picked up while I was at The Makeup Show, and it had been sitting in my travel case ever since. Also, if I hadn’t have had this challenge to push me, there is a really good chance I would never have tried it. So, without further ado, here is my choice for my favorite summer lippie of 2012:
Youngblood is a mineral makeup company, and I don’t have any real experience with them. However, this lipstick went on so soft and smooth, that I fell in love with the texture. The color, a coral-orange, is actually quite sheer, which is a requirement for me in the summer. I’m all about sheer, luminous skin during the hot months.
We’ve all heard that tangerine is the color of the year, and now I can see why. It looks really amazing with my neutral-to-warm tanned skin tone, and I have never, ever, worn an orange-ish shade of anything in my entire life. Color me converted.
