Nordstrom’s Fall 2010 Beauty Trend Report

This year, fall beauty is all about adding a new twist to past trends. Nordstrom National Beauty Director Cheri Botiz reports on the top beauty trends for the season from the fall fashion runways and translates how anyone can wear them:

Luminous Skin: Great make-up starts with great skin, and the fall runways were no exception. “Enhance your skin’s natural glow this season by choosing a foundation with a sheer finish.”

High Voltage Lips: The fall statement lip is back. Strong, fluorescent colored reds, fuchsias and corals take the center stage. “To achieve a bold effect, first use a matching lip pencil to fill in the entire lip and layer lip gloss or lipstick on top for dimension.”

Ultra Winged Liner: Liner takes a modern edge this fall with an ultra-bold, exaggerated definition of the lash line. “This season is all about dramatic eyeliner in all textures. You can use liquid pens, creams or gels to create the look—just extend the line slightly past the eye to achieve the look.”

Multidimensional Smoky Eye: The updated smoky eye is worn with blues, greens and browns this season. “This iteration of the smoky eye is more wearable than ever—the key is to perfectly blend shadows so the color fades away towards the brow.”

The New Neutral Lip: A perfect pairing with the multidimensional smoky eye, the neutral lip is repackaged this fall in apricots and soft pinks that diffuse into the lips for just a hint of color. “The new neutral lip is done with less beige and taupe colors so it looks bright and defined, yet still neutral. Apply with a coordinating lip liner to get a defined, long-wearing look.”

Bold Brows: An ultra-defined brow is the new beauty accessory for fall. “This look can be wearable for anyone just by scaling back waxing of your brows and instead using powder, a pencil or both to enhance their natural shape.”

Textured Hair: This fall is all about ready to wear hair. The looks on the runways were created with natural curls amped to encourage voluminous results. “The textured look for fall is worn best pulled back into a messy pony tail and accessorized or worn in a loose up-do.”

Kaleidoscope Nails: Nail color trends for fall include grays and taupes but with purple and teal hues to give them a kaleidoscope effect. “The look is an updated gray with glitter for a dramatic effect or bright color hues in the form of added sheen for that is updated for fall.”
