I know it sounds like fun, and for the most part it really is, but Mercedes Benz New York Fashion Week is brutal. Last September I came away with a case of H1N1 influenza with resulting pneumonia to remember it by. I actually missed my last two days there because I was so ill in bed. And last February was so crazy that I don’t even remember much about it now. But when you’re running around the fashion elite and making pronouncements about being a beauty blogger, the pressure is on to look your best. These are the 10 products that will be in my luggage as I try to survive yet another NYFW.
- Faux Dry – Dry Shampoo
by Blow. This translucent powder removes any oil and dirt I may have accumulated. It also preserves a fantastic blowout that I usually get while I’m in the city.
- Essie’s 3-Way Glaze
applied once a day will usually preserve a manicure on my natural chip-prone nails.
- Soothing Leg Lotion
with aloe and mint is a lifesaver at the end of the day when I have been on my feet and walking everywhere in Manhattan trying to find venues and coffee.
- Late nights are a given most of the time I am there, and Anastasia’s Cooling Eye Brightener
helps me look awake and refreshed for those 6:30 AM backstage calls.
- I am horrible at remembering to reapply lipstick, even though I own about a million tubes of it. That’s why I carry Revlon’s Colorstay Just Bitten Lipstain + Balm
. The stain lasts all day and I can reapply the balm when my lips are feeling dry.
- I’m not a huge fan of layering powder on my face every time I see a bit of shine (which is about an hour after I apply my makeup!), so I keep Shiseido Pureness Oil-Control Blotting Paper in my bag.
- I require large amounts of hair spray, and I love John Frieda’s Moisture Barrier Firm Hold Hair Spray
that I keep a small can in my purse. It’s the only way to keep volume in my ‘do that holds up to rain or wind.
- I don’t leave the house without my Cle de Peau Beaute Concealer
so you can be sure I wouldn’t visit NYC without it. Makes my eyes dewy fresh and looking almost as good as the 16 year old models. But not quite.
- I discovered BLACK ORCHID by Tom Ford for WOMEN
while in NYC, and it has become my signature fragrance. Now I always have it with me when I am there.
- It’s inevitable that I will have a breakout from all the amazing food, champagne, late nights, and whatever else is going on, and I know that I can count on my trusty Mario Badescu Drying Cream
to clear that problem right up.

These are great items! Tom Ford Black Orchid is such a super “sessy” scent, one of my favorites too!
You know, I really need to try Mario Badescu Drying Cream. I’m pretty sure I’m the only beauty blogger on the planet that hasn’t tried it. It sounds like a little miracle in a bottle.
Hope you have a great time during NYFW!
