Maria of 1000 Reasons I_m A Bad Mom BlogWelcome to the first post in a series I like to call “WHAT is in your makeup bag?” Because, let’s face it, we are all nosy. I love digging through my friends bags and seeing what treasures they carry with them because they are just. that. good. Now I’m asking everyone to share! Interested in participating? I would LOVE it! Just contact me via that form over there, and I’ll get back to you ASAP.

So, this week we are looking at the (hello, gorgeous!) Maria who writes 1000 Reasons I’m a Crap Mom blog, which I am an AVID reader of. Anyone who doesn’t want to take this whole mom thing too seriously needs to spend some time over there realizing that perfection is the enemy of good enough. So, let’s dive into what Maria carries with her every day. You ready?

Here it is: my make up bag in all its glory. It looks suspiciously like a handbag because it IS a handbag: the front pouch and zipper are my dedicated make-up bag so I always have my props with me.
Did I say “always”? Yeah – this is the handbag I use all day, every day, with every outfit and for every purpose. Notice the low-key, super-neutral colour so it goes with everything, and the funky-yet-safe tassels so my boy always has something to play with.
The big button supports a local charity for parents of children with cancer. It was founded by a dear friend of mine who lost her child to it last year. Representing.
And now, the contents!
  • Avene tinted cream with spf 50. It’s the first time I’ve used this product, and I like that I get makeup and hardcore sun protection in one go. I’m not sure if the colour is perfect for me, though, and it’s a tad oily. But it takes half the time!
  • Visine. Because I spend too much time in front of monitors.
  • Lip Venom lip gloss. Mama likes to bring on the ROWR every now and then!
  • Chapstick. For the rest of the time.
  • Elizabeth Arden cheekcolour in Tearose. PERFECTION. I look like the living dead without it.
  • Revlon Colorstay pressed powder in medium. Never buying it again. I used to love their “Second Complexion”, must see if it’s still available.
  • Mystery perfect eyeshadow. I got it for $1 in a dollar shop and it is the perfect tone of charcoal. Can’t live without it.
  • Brush for the eyeshadow. Love it, but I need a shorter and stiffer one too so I can get the smoky eye right – this one is too soft for the lower lashes.
  • Eyeliner. The one thing I never leave home without! This is Revlon Colorstay in black, and it’s not bad. A bit too smudgy maybe, but OK.
  • L’Oreal Double Extend mascara in black. PERFECTION. I never curl my eyelashes, and with this I don’t need to.
  • Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen Illumineyes in smoked oyster. Also from a dollar shop, great for adding a little shimmer.
  • LA Cross tweezer. A must when you have eyebrows as dark as mine!

It’s funny how people you think you know from their Avatar picture look so different in other pix. I can’t get over it.

Good point, Maryline – now let’s see another picture of you! ;)

Mer, I’m afraid I don’t have a lot to teach, i was born with thick eyebrows! I just pluck strays and every now and then have them done by a professional

Now, have you got any make-up advice for me???? :)
