I was flipping through my September issue of Elle magazine, I believe, and I saw this beautiful little eyeshadow duo by L’Oreal’s HiP line that I just had to get my greedy little hands on. I’m not going to lie: I am a sucker for a neutral paired with a gorgeous green. I have so many shades of green, and I just keep buying them because they all look so pretty.
L’Oreal HiP Studio Secrets Professional Crystal Shadow Duo in Mystical is a wonderfully pigmented shadow that glides on pretty effortlessly. You can build it for a more dramatic effect, or you can keep it sheer for a wash of color. I didn’t experience any fallout with this shadow, and I would definitely repurchase anything in this line. Plus, it’s extremely budget friendly, with a duo running you about $6, and you can find these just about anywhere, from mass market stores like Target to local drugstore chains such as Rite Aid. That’s where I got mine – and they had it on sale, too! Buy one get one half off. Bonus!
I applied the lighter shadow as a base, then used the green just on my outer lids. Nothing dramatic or difficult – just a nice wash of color on a gorgeous summer day. I decided to use a bit of L’Oreal HIP Kohl Eyeliner in bronze just for a different look. I adore the kohl liners by L’Oreal. They are one of the few that will stay put on my waterline, and they can do a fabulous dramatic look, if you’re going for that. However, after applying it, I decided it needed a bit more depth and definition, and I took a black pencil just to my lashline on the top and bottom. I then added my glorious Diorshow Extase mascara, which made my lashes look like I had been applying Latisse for the past six months.
All in all, a super easy look that took me less than five minutes.

I like the green on you. I’ve been playing with greens more often, myself.

I think I’m going to have to pick that up too!
The shimmering colors makes an eye pretty, that’s the best thing about this product.
Yes, the HiP Crystal duos are excellent for shimmer that isn’t overwhelming or glittery. Make sure you know which HiP duo you are buying, though, as they do have a matte line which is also quite gorgeous. But it doesn’t have any shimmer at all.
You’re like me! I keep buying greens. I can’t help it! My biggest weakness: olive greens with gold shimmer. Greens look really good on you too. You should keep buying them!
I really love the L’Oreal Hip Duos that I have ( I don’t have the ones you have here). I’ve been wearing them more lately because I’ve been in a metallic mood (go in and out of that). They are an excellent eyeshadow. The pigments beat many department store brands.
