I’ve put off writing about Talika’s Bust Serum because I didn’t really have any proof as to whether it actually worked or not. Perhaps I should have gotten out my tape measure or something and did a before and after, but as much as I love all my readers, that just wasn’t going to happen. However, I continued using it faithfully every day, and then something happened to make me realize that this might be the easiest review I’ve ever written.
SJP NYC will appeal to a majority of the masses
Let me just say right off the bat that Sarah Jessica Parker NYC Perfume by Sarah Jessica Parker for Women is not a fragrance for me. Oh, it should be, in theory, with it’s notes of gardenia and rum. But it turns weird on me, and although my husband is absolutely fascinated with it (he says it reminds him of a high school girlfriend who wore Poison all the time) I can’t bring myself to like it. However, I can completely understand the appeal – I wanted to like it. What’s not to like? It’s Sarah Jessica Parker! It’s named after NYC! The notes, while common, are fresh and mostly lovely! I have no explanation, other than it just doesn’t mix with my skin chemistry at all. In fact, it doesn’t do either of us any favors when it’s on my skin. Obviously, that isn’t true for everyone, given the raves this fragrance has been receiving lately.
I’ve been looking at my girls who have the ability to get their nails Minxed with a mixture of envy and downright jealousy. No where in my town was there a spot where I could find the Minx procedure. So, I contented myself with gorgeous shades and a bit of nail art here and there to express my creativity.
However, Sephora by OPI, inspired by Minx, has released their own version of the popular nail art, and has made it super easy to use.
I was in Washington DC lately, which is my second favorite city in the world, and while I was in Tyson’s Galleria, I discovered that the Macy’s there had a Lush store! Holy vegan goodness! Why can’t they have a Lush selection in my local Macy’s store? Because I live out in the middle of nowhere, apparently.
At any rate, Lush has some great goodies that I’ve been dying to try, the Mint Julip lip scrub being first on my list. Read on for details and the ingredient list – you won’t want to miss it, since you can literally eat it right out of the jar, if you really wanted to.

Estee Lauder has launched 34 shades of highly pigmented lip gloss in three luxurious finishes: shine, shimmer, and sparkle. The best part of the collection is the fact that Tom Pecheux, Creative Makeup Director, chimes in with six shades of his own in the line.
The glosses are non-sticky and non-tacky and contain vitamins C and E to help moisturize lips, and regular use over time will help improve the condition of the lips.

Move over Carrie, there’s a new woman taking Manhattan – Riley Kendrick. “Dirty Little Secret,” a new, graphic novel web series created in partnership ELLE and TRESemmé, follows six of NYC’s most connected women around the Big Apple.
The 10-part series, which premieres on May 25th on ELLE.com/DirtyLittleSecret and the TRESemmé Facebook fan page, follows the new girl in town, aspiring hairstylist Riley Kendrick and her encounters with some of the most stylish and chic women in the fashion and beauty worlds. However, her “dirty little secret,” which begins as a harmless omission, spirals out of control, leading to a web of deception. The compelling drama also features real-life TRESemmé Celebrity Stylist, Jeanie Syfu. As we all know, some of the best-kept secrets are spilled in the salon chair and Jeanie has heard some scandalous ones this season.
Are you endlessly seeking the perfect nude lip?
A nude lip is almost essential when you’re going for dramatic or smokey eyes. It’s a go-to look in the summer as well, when everyone is striving for that bronzed-but-no-makeup look. Eve Pearl has given me a great option for my summer lips: her See Through/Wet Kisses lip duo.
Senna Cosmetics is another brand that I was unfamiliar with until I explored their line at The Makeup Show. Really, even if you think you know all the beauty brands out there, you should check out The Makeup Show when it’s in NYC next – it’s amazing how many amazing brands are out there that you’ve never heard of.
Anyway. I was able to get a sample of five of their lipglosses in this cute little blue wallet. The shades were neutral and pearlescent, and perfect for summer. Read on for swatches.

Some Twitter friends and I have spent most of the day reminiscing about 80′s music and culture, because we were actually there. As I was working my way through some Friday Night Videos playlists, I managed to catch this screen shot taken of the model who appears in the Separate Ways video by Journey.
Check the makeup.
One of the reasons why I am always recommending palettes to people is that it makes it so much easier to throw together a perfect look in a short amount of time. I can become paralyzed by indecision when I am looking at a lineup of all my single eyeshadows, because really, who wants to think that early in the morning?
So I wanted to put something together fast yesterday, as I had a meeting in the evening, and I spent the afternoon at the beach. As I was scrambling to get showered, dressed, and out the door on time, I reached into my closet and just grabbed one of my palettes. Here is the super quick and easy look I came up with.
Armour lip gloss: rock and roll meets high fashion
I’ve mentioned before that I’m not a huge lip gloss fan. Usually I’m just bitterly disappointed at the lack of color, no matter what shade I purchase. However, more and more companies are coming out with heavily pigmented gloss, and it’s definitely bringing something to the table.
Armour Lip Gloss was a Makeup Show find. I had never heard of the company before, although several of my blogger friends had, and were eager to snatch a few shades up, so I figured I’d better head over to their display and see what’s what. All in the interest of research, mind you.
I think everyone has been talking about Obsessive Compulsive Cosmetics’ Lip Tars for about a year now, and I had never even seen one in the flesh until The Makeup Show in NYC last month. They are heavily pigmented little tubes of awesome, and I am having an excellent time playing with them.
New for 2010 is a shade called Grandma, that I absolutely love.
A lippie splurge: Chanel’s Rouge Coco in Paris with Red Shine Glossimer
I generally don’t splurge on lip products. It’s not that I don’t love them, it’s more that I generally forget to use them on a regular basis. Lip balms are a necessity, and sit right on my nightstand, but lipsticks just don’t get used very often. And I’m not a huge fan of lip glosses, as they rarely show up on my lips, and I could just use Vaseline and get the same result.
But I’m making an effort to pull out my lip products and really give them a go. Maybe I can create a new habit. And so the Seven Fabulous Days of Lips was born.
