I am so excited to see Estee Lauder really taking their collections to the next level. Anyone who is still mistakenly thinking of the brand as an “old lady” favorite should definitely think again – the two new Bronze Goddess summer collections are nothing short of spectacular.

There are two color stories with this collection, Exotic Coral and Exotic Orchid. Both of these collections have some gorgeous limited edition colors for eyes, lips, and nails. The collection also includes some bronzing products to help you get that radiant summer glow as well as self-tanning products for the perfect beach look and a perfect-for-sultry-summer-nights fragrance.

Let’s break it all down after the jump, including product photos.

It seems as if I’m always fighting a battle against the occasional blemish. Honestly, at this age, I shouldn’t have to even think about blemishes, but apparently that is the trade off for not having much in the way of wrinkles, if the older generation in my family is any indication. So while I don’t have to be aggressive with the anti-aging, I am diligent in the ways of battling blemishes. My kung fu is indeed strong. So, here are my two latest weapons in the epic battle.

Every year Marc Jacobs entices us with a new collection of his light Splash fragrances – not as heavy as your traditional perfume, but interesting enough to intrigue someone who is close enough to smell it.

This season, we are invited to linger at a Paris patisserie, enjoying the sunshine and the beautiful sweets in front of us on the table. Mariah Carey at the 2010 Academy Awards

Mariah Carey at the 2010 Academy Awards

Regardless of what you think of Mariah Carey‘s music, choices of men, or star vehicles (Glitter), you can almost always count on her to show some old fashioned glamour when there is a red carpet to walk down. While she didn’t get any camera time at the show itself, she certainly showed off her amazing hair on the red carpet. Curl expert Ouidad tells us how to achieve her look.

  • First, apply a moisturizing gel, like Ouidad Curl Quencher Gel and dry hair with low heat.
  • Set large rollers on the top of the head and medium on the rest of hair.
  • Remove rollers and brush through with a soft bristle brush.
  • Run fingers through the tendrils and curls will spring back to life.
  • Finish with Ouidad’s Styling Mist to set the look in place and Ouidad’s Shine Glaze Serum to smooth curls and add shine.

So much talk about the Academy Awards last night, and I still haven’t had a chance to watch the entire thing. However, I did see some of the red carpet arrivals, and everyone just looked absolutely amazing.

Amanda Seyfried had a gorgeous updo last night, and Sally Hershberger was kind enough to share with me how to do it. Here are her tips for achieving this look:

SALON by Sally Hershberger

SALON by Sally Hershberger

Stylist to the stars Sally Hershberger is set to launch her new SALON line, developed to create and hold styles while nourishing hair, on HSN March 8, 2010. The line features five products that marry technique with technology: Mineral Spray, Shape Up, Smooth Fix, Texture Blast, and Luxe Layers.

Mineral Spray is a salt-free, mineral-rich formula lifts layers and provides hair with 3D texture. Build beach-y texture without the residue and dulling effects of traditional salt sprays, with Sally’s new cure for limp, lifeless hair.  Mineral Spray is a nutrient-rich, texture and movement enhancing product that replenishes while it styles.  Just a few quick sprays to dry hair delivers sheer yet nourishing dimension for touchable results.

Shape Up lifts roots and builds long-lasting body – it’s an innovative yet simple solution to address the number one request Sally gets from her clients -body and lift.  As the first root lift formulated with a skincare-inspired cationic plumping system and marine collagen, Shape Up builds body while strengthening hair from root to tip.  Spray to the roots of towel-dried hair for a lift or brush through to build a full body style.

Smooth Fix offers glossy shine with flexible hold. The perfect alternative to heavy shine products, Smooth Fix is a revolutionary formula made of micro sheer silicones that deliver a weightless mist of glossy shine.  Combined with a special blend of styling resins Smooth Fix delivers a flexible frizz-free hold to polish and define any style.  Spray on dry, styled hair and comb through hair to create a sexy, stylized look that will last.

Texture Blast bulks up style with extreme body. Sally has created a product that instantly delivers the smoothing of a wax without the weight and the densifying effects of a protein treatment in one formula. Texture Blast gives lifeless hair instant body and movement to create big, bold styles.  Shake well and apply to lightly dried hair. Shape and define the style with hands and reapply for additional texture.

Luxe Layers bring a pro touch and a perfect blow dry. Everyday heat styling can be torture on your tresses and leave hair dull and lifeless. Achieve a salon-perfect, long-lasting blowout with Sally’s innovative formula that delivers body and moisture while preventing heat damage and protecting color.  The result is a faster, longer-lasting at-home blowout that is touchable and completely frizz-free, rain or shine!

Catch the debut on HSN March 8, 2010 at 10 p.m. and March 9, 2010 at 6 a.m., 10 a.m. and 3 p.m.

I’ve been in Ricky’s NYC many times, and I’ve always noticed awesome products, up to the minute trends, and some other “interesting” stuff, but I’ve never seen a salon in there. But, I’ve been informed that there is indeed a Ricky’s NYC salon, and it’s called Revolver.

Billing themselves as “runway style at real girl prices.” And they aren’t kidding – take a look at their menu board:

They are currently in three Ricky’s NYC stores, including one in Miami!

  • 124 Crosby (between Houston and Prince Streets)
  • 111 Third Avenue (between 13th and 14th Streets)
  • 2906 Broadway (between 113th and 114th Streets)
  • 536 Lincoln Road, Miami

And two more will be opening up this month:

  • 7 East 14th Street (between 5th and 6th Avenues)
  • 30/83 Steinway (between 30th and 31st Avenues), Astoria

I’ll be popping in next time I’m in town for a $30 blowout – that price is almost unheard of in the city!

Shu Uemura Art of Hair Essence Absolue

Shu Uemura Art of Hair Essence Absolue

The hottest hair product to hit the shelves recently sold out in a matter of days, but I just got word that it is officially back in stock, and you can purchase it online at Shu Uemura’s online shop if you can’t find it locally.

A five ounce bottle will set you back about $65, but word is that it’s truly amazing. Used as a protectant during color treatments, a before shampoo oil treatment, and as a shine enhancer and damage-repair agent during a blowout, it certainly has a multitude of uses. And it’s not just your everyday people using it, either. Celebs such as Sheryl Crowe, Madonna, Mariah Carey, Kate Bosworth, Emily Blunt have all been spotted using it.

Have you tried the Essence Absolue? What did you think? Enquiring minds want to know!
