This is my last day at home packing, so I’m wrapping up all the beauty must-haves to take me through the next five days at Mercedes Benz Fashion Week. My suitcase is packed, and I am ready to go!
Since I can’t take all my rollers and bonnet hair dryers and huge cans of hair spray (yes, I really have all those things), I try and make my blowout last as long as possible. The best way to do that, I’ve found, is by using Blow’s Faux Dry – Dry Shampoo.
This amazing little powder, when applied to your roots, magically clears away dirt, oil, and product. It also boosts volume, which is a huge win for me. If you can’t make it to the Blow salon, this is the absolute next best thing. It’s also much, much cheaper.

It’s not that I don’t stay in amazing hotels when I visit Manhattan. Okay, maybe I’m not at the Waldorf or the Four Seasons, but I don’t stay in dumps. However, no matter how wonderful the hotel is, my skin always needs some extra attention, especially if it’s being exposed to the frigid New York February weather.

And that’s where Jurlique Love Balm comes in.

Love Balm  is a skin treatment salve that moisturizes, soothes, softens and protects sensitive, dry or chapped skin. Lightly fragranced with organic Tangerine oil.  Beeswax and Jojoba Oil nourish and protect skin. Contains antioxidant Vitamin E. Sunflower Seed and Avocado Oils hydrate skin. And it is of course, paraben free.
I was already a fan of Jurlique’s, especially in hotel rooms – I’ve long been a fan of the  Rosewater Balancing Mist, but I have fallen head over heels with the Love Balm. I’ve found it to be useful for dry cuticles, chapped lips, rough heels, and even as a friction reducer in a particularly painful pair of shoes. Because it’s a solid, you don’t have to worry about TSA having a problem with it, and it’s small enough to fit into any overcrowded makeup bag.

This was an amazing find last year during Mercedes Benz Fashion Week. After a full day of being on my feet and running all over the city, it was so nice to come back to my hotel room and massage Soin Jambes Legeres over my feet and calves.
The payoff is a cooling, tingling sensation that really feels amazing. Hot, puffy feet are transformed into something more human, and it’s so relaxing just rubbing it in.
Find Soin Jambes Legeres on the Payot website and at spas near you.

I’m leaving on Friday to cover Mercedes Benz Fashion Week in New York, so I’m starting to put together all the things I need. And believe me, there are a lot. I am going to be around all the fashionable people for five days, and I need to look the part. However, it’s not easy to look that good all the time, so I have a few tricks up my sleeve.
Foot Petals Luxury Kit ($54 Value! Beauty.com Exclusive) 1 kit
The first on my list is the Luxury Kit by Foot Petals. This amazing little bag contains a pack of Heavenly HeelzStrappy StripsTip Toes, and a bottle of Sweaty Pedi Lavender Vanilla.
Heavenly Heelz are probably my absolute favorite Foot Petals product. I have them in just about every shoe I own. Probably because I always have to buy a size up in shoes to accommodate my foot width. At any rate, these keep your heels from sliding out of your shoes and prevent that annoying blister-forming friction that can seriously ruin your day.

Strappy Strips are applied to the strappy part of your slingbacks. They prevent friction and keep the straps from digging into your heel.

Tip Toes are the first product that I was exposed to by Foot Petals. I found them when I was in the city walking with some particularly uncomfortable shoes. These are applied inside your shoes and cushion the balls of your feet to prevent soreness while wearing heels. Every pair of high heels I own have these inside.

Sweaty Pedi Lavender Vanilla is sprayed on your feet to help reduce friction and gives you a nice blast of aromatherapy to help calm down stressed feet.

And all of these come in a great travel-friendly bag that slips easily into your suitcase.

OPI’s Absolutely Alice

In preparation for Mercedes Benz Fashion Week, I’m blogging from my iPhone to make sure everything is working as it should, and I’m also sporting OPI’s new blue shade inspired by Alice in Wonderland – Absolutely Alice.

As you can hopefully see in the picture attached, it’s definitely a glitter shade and I wasn’t sure I was going to like it, but a few hours of having it on and I love it.

I’ve decided that while I am in New York I will use only my Alice-inspired makeup from Urban Decay and the nail polishes I grabbed from OPI. I’ll be documenting all my looks, so stay tuned!

This collection has a fun, flirty vibe. And I’m not sure, but I’ve never seen a fragrance with a Smashbox collection, but there is one here, so that might be worth looking at as well. Let’s dive in!

Heartbreaker Baked Fusion Soft Lights
is this season’s answer to the bronzer. This baked powder gives you a glow-from-within look.

Heartbreaker Eye Shadow Palette
. Two different sets of six to choose from: Hot Date (below), which is shades of tan and teal. Kiss ‘n Tell (above) ranges from white to pink, to purple to black.

Heartbreaker Lash DNA Mascara
: I’m not really sure what the difference is between this product and the regular Lash DNA mascara that I’ve already reviewed. I’m going to assume it’s just in a pretty box.

Heartbreaker Liquid Liner Pen
. I am of the firm opinion that no one should be without a fabulous black pen liner. They are usually much easier to handle than a regular liquid liner, and you can use it to achieve a variety of looks, from precise cat eye to smudgy smoky eye.

Heartbreaker Lip Shine. Glossy lip shine in two colors for this collection, Berry Hot and Melon Drama.

Heartbreaker Rollerball Lip Gloss
. There is always one product in any collection that really catches my eye, and this is the one for the Heartbreaker set, and the only reason is because it’s a rollerball. It brings back memories of my rollerball glosses back in middle school that tasted of bubble gum. This one comes in one shade only, Pink Sugar, and contains vitamin E.

Hearbreaker Eau de Parfum
. Smashbox has finally released their very first fragrance, and it’s made up of forget-me-not florals and spices. Notes include gardenia, blue violet, musk, and vanilla. This is a perfect travel size with a rollerball applicator.
See anything you are dying for? Have you tried any of these? Tell me all about it!

While in Dallas last month, I had the amazing opportunity to visit Susan Posnick’s office and studio. You may best know her as the amazing mineral cosmetic line, and I had the chance to get the insider’s view, along with a fabulous makeover. There are several videos in this series, and this one begins, well, at the beginning. Enjoy!

Are you like me and expect lots of floral pastel in your spring colors? I suppose I’ve just grown used to it – after the dreary gray winter, we all want some pretty in our spring colors. Dior, however, wants you to forget about that nonsense and look hot this spring.
Don’t get me wrong, the pastels are still there, but they are mixed with a touch of black lace, reminding you that you can be both naughty AND nice, that there can be an edge to your floral goodness. This collection is inspired by the beauty of the 1920s, and you can see elements of it throughout.
The piece de resistance is most certainly Poudrer Dentelle, a compact with pink on pink tones that leaves a soft veil over the face.

Also included in the collection is the Five Couleurs Edition Dentelle, a lace-embossed palette of five shadows in beautiful shades of mauve:

The Creme de Rose lip balm in the collection comes infused with Damask Rose essential oil, vitamins, and shea butter to moisturize lips.
Dior’s new Addict Lip Polish features a new spin-on applicator, and the formula is a new “stretch” formulation with amino acids and certain oils. The color in this collection is Petal Pink, and is gorgeous.
There is also a Diorblush Edition Dentelle in Vintage Pink with the trademark lace embossing:
Also of note are the nail polishes, Dior Vernis, which we see above on the model in Silver Pearl. It’s interesting to see another gray during spring, but I like it.
See anything you have to have? Be sure to check out the entire collection at Christian Dior online.

No doubt about it, curls are all the rage right now. It’s such a nice change from the stick straight hair we’ve been seeing the past few years, it’s positively refreshing.

It’s super easy to get this look at home. Start by using Samy Curl Constructor Activating Mousse on wet hair to boost natural texture. It will help provide lift and volume throughout the hair. Dry hair in sections using a good round brush. Next, set hair in large hot rollers such as Remington Ceramic Ionic Jumbo Hair Rollers:
Remington H0747 Women's Ceramic, Ionic Jumbo Hair Rollers
Alternate the two sizes for a more natural curl pattern. Then you can either pin your hair up or leave it down, as you wish. Finish off your style with Samy Skyscraper Volumizing Hairspray for lift that holds all day.
You can find Samy products at Walgreens, Rite Aid, and better drugstores across the US. The Remington hair roller set is available at Wal-Mart.

Danilo, the celeb stylist for Pantene, styled Katy Perry’s hair for last night’s Grammy awards, and wanted to move away from a retro perfect look. To get started, Danilo started by combing in Pantene Pro-V Beautiful Lengths Split End Prevention Leave-in Cream to condition and prepare for styling. Then he blow dried individual sections using Pantene Pro-V Volume Root Lifter Gel for extra lift and definition. Then he used a medium curling iron to create soft spiral curls. He then tousled them and sprayed with Pantene Pro-V Texture Hairspray to finish.

He described her bangs as “bumper perfection,” and used Pantene Pro-V Restoratives Frizz Control Extra Strength Serum before drying straight and creating a curvature around the brow.
